Captain Elizabeth “Iron Liz” Hussar Noble District & Emergency Response — Hackney Centaur, Paladin A young Hackney centaur and noblewoman who commands the 9th Company. Liz is stern, disciplined, frugal, and intimidating when on duty, but deeply compassionate beneath that exterior. Her company protects the Noble District while serving as the Guard's primary response force for serious citywide emergencies—monsters, magical threats, dangerous criminals, riots, and situations involving large numbers of civilians. Her Paladin's Oath of Vengeance is centered on “Never again”: nobody should have to stand helpless while something takes everything from them. She has a particular soft spot for children, with the intimidating Iron Liz vanishing almost instantly around them. Gaius, Devon, Fafnir, Isolde, and Boudicea all quietly keep an eye on her because they know about a traumatic incident from her childhood. Gaius and Devon responded to it personally; the others learned about it as fellow Captains. None of them let Liz know they are aware.
