Yokai are supernatural spirits or monsters from Japanese folklore that often have shapeshifting abilities. They may have animal features, or take on appearances that resemble that of a human. Use your imagination to create a yokai (it doesn't have to be based on traditional folklore).
Examples of yokai include...
-Kappa, mischievous monsters that are said to drown people. They live in rivers or other bodies of water, and look like turtles.
-Tengu, bird-like monsters with wings that are often depicted with huge noses when they’re in human form.
-Rokurokubi look like normal humans during the day, but transform into long-necked beings at night. Their heads can pop off and float around.
-Gashadokuro are giant skeleton spirits that are created from bones of unburied people who died in battle or from starvation.
